Writing Circle Group at Kingsbridge Library

Information: The group is focused on autobiographical writing, but all genres are welcome. Writing sessions consist of a short stream-of-consciousness writing activity, then sharing and discussion of work produced from that activity or of work brought from home.

Puerto Rico Earthquake Benefit

Information: Pregones/PRTT announces a new round of emergency relief for artists in Puerto Rico. Funds will be raised during the scheduled New York premiere of Paul Flores’ We Have Iré, with benefit performances at Pregones Theater! We Have Iré is about a group of artists gathered to party, dance, and play music while sharing stories about their lives in Cuba and the U.S.

Astronomy: The Winter Sky at Van Cortlandt Nature Center in Van Cortlandt Park

Information: Ring in the Lunar New Year by studying the stars with the Urban Park Rangers.  Our Urban Park Rangers will be your guides to the solar system, discussing the science, history, and folklore of the universe.  Astronomy programs feature the use of telescopes and binoculars to observe specific astronomical events.

Holiday Train Show

Location: 2900 Southern Boulevard, Bronx, NY

Information: New York Botanical Garden presents Holiday Train Show! The enchanting model trains zip through a display of 150 landmarks, each re-created with bark, leaves, and other natural materials. Marvel at G-scale locomotives humming along among familiar sights such as the Brooklyn Bridge, The Statue of Liberty, and Rockefeller Center. This year’s exhibition features 3,000 square feet of additional exhibition space.
