DIVERSE VOICES COME TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE PUBLIC ACCESS MEDIA PRODUCERS AT The 2010 BETA AWARDS.
Producers who create and share programs on BronxNet, were celebrated at BronxNet’s 2010 BETA (Bronx Excellence in Television Access) Awards. Envelopes were opened and the mystery ceased for dozens of Bronx residents who entered their programs into the competition. Produced by BronxNet Director of Development & Training Audrey Duncan, The BETA Awards honor Bronx residents who learned the craft of television production at BronxNet, and utilize the station’s equipment free of charge to produce programs that air on BronxNet channels.
Notable awards presenters representing Bronx and New York City organizations and media outlets joined BronxNet Executive Director Michael Max Knobbe and BETA Awards Host Dean Meminger of NY 1 to celebrate the BETA Awards winners and BronxNet public access.
Renowned singer, Blitz the Ambassador and his band make their way around the globe on a regular basis, and they took the time to share their African Highlife music with our BETA Awards audience. This year, BronxNet was proud to receive two high honors for the media services it provides to the Bronx community. The honors included a citation from Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. and a letter of recognition from New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.
