THE 2009 BETA AWARDS/EVERY VOICE COUNTS!

BronxNet is working in partnership with the United States Census Bureau to highlight the importance of participating in the 2010 Census. Our 2009 – 14th Annual BETA (Bronx Excellence in Television Access) Awards is themed: “Every Voice Counts,” representing all the possibilities that exist when Bronx residents utilize BronxNet to share their message as well as all the benefits that can result from participating in the census.

As we celebrate the winners and nominees of this year’s BETA Awards, we will encourage and celebrate participation in the upcoming census. The independent public access producers who air programs on BronxNet do much to share important information with their viewing audiences. As we go forward, many producers will also find creative ways to inform viewers about the importance of the 2010 Census via their independently-produced programs.

Once again, we are proud to have BronxNet alum, the outstanding Reporter/Anchor Dean Meminger of NY 1 as host of this year’s BETA Awards. Enjoy a theatrical performance featuring the entertaining Comedic Actress & BronxNet Program Host Rhina Valentin, the Bronx own “Opera Steve” who uniquely blends opera, with hip-hop, noted Actor/Singer Ron Anthony, recognized Gospel Singer “Ladybird Sunshine,” Reporter/Dancer Bharati Kemraj, and Singers/Songwriters Steve Kang and Sike Deezy…All accompanied by the great sounds of Ibrahim Gonzalez and his band.
